Key Takeaways: Half your employees are looking for a new job. Why? And what can you do?
The May 2024 Executive Briefing was on "Half your employees are looking for a new job. Why? And what can you do?"
Our panelists were Chris Martin, Kimberly Sharman Evans, and Michael Peerson.
We had a very engaging discussion on the topic and agreed on several issues. Solving this problem isn’t a soundbite; rather, it involves gaining a deep understanding of your employees' wants and needs and an honest commitment to listening to them and involving them in the solution development and rollout.
Many of our workforce practices are still rooted in industrial-age thinking, when labor was employed to operate machines, and the machines were the assets. Machines are now employed as tools to optimize human effectiveness.
We need a mindset change that recognizes talent as a stakeholder in the business that has free choice; it’s up to leaders to create the conditions that lead to talent enthusiastically embracing the organizational mission.
Key Takeaways
Align strategic conversations with CEOs on mission-critical relationships to redefine success beyond financial metrics. If talent relationships are deemed important, the mindset and practices must evolve to be congruent with today’s realities.
Improving relationships’ health, resiliency, and productivity are mission-critical capabilities to drive organizational success.
Direct, unfiltered communication uncovers hidden organizational issues, gaining deeper insights and understanding root causes. Relying on survey results is not enough.
Build a culture of leadership that starts from the executive suite and impacts every level of the organization.
Focus on employee engagement, customer focus, and financial performance. Use data-driven insights to guide CEO priorities and align with workforce trends. Be prepared to pivot if necessary.
